Managers: are you prepared to lose at least half of your team?
Yesterday, we shared that while most business leaders currently say they are thriving, 41% of workers are considering leaving their jobs. No question that the stresses of the past year have contributed.
As offices and schools reopen, it’s not back to normal yet. There’s a lot of delayed processing that will need to happen over the weeks and months ahead as people come to terms with the losses and changes that have transpired over the last year.
As a result, it’s not too late, and maybe more important than ever, to model checking in with your team about how they are doing, and hold the space for their responses. The survey data above shows that leaders and team members seem to be living different realities. How can team goals be achieved if this is true?
Leaders, you owe it to your team members to know what your people experience so that you can help them make sense of it. You may not be able to solve their challenges. At the very least, you can be a source of support and have greater awareness of what they face. Your team may be working remotely, but they shouldn’t be invisible.
